Depuis 2020, Antoine Roegiers développe avec À L'OMBRE DES NUAGES un récit visuel qui se déploie en plusieurs chapitres et prolonge en mouvement la série de peintures du même nom. Toujours en cours de réalisation, le projet évolue au fil des années, puisant dans son univers pictural pour en transposer les atmosphères dans le champ de l'animation.
Les tableaux prennent vie, les personnages se déplacent et les paysages se transforment. Le mouvement et la temporalité permettent au récit de se déployer progressivement, faisant apparaître un monde instable et imprévisible, peuplé de figures masquées, d'animaux et de personnages mi-hommes, mi-animaux. Entre paysages désertés, incendies et phénomènes naturels, les différents chapitres composent une traversée où le monde semble en perpétuelle transformation.
À travers cet univers, Antoine Roegiers compose une allégorie sensible de notre époque. Il explore les transformations, les incertitudes et les fragilités qui façonnent nos sociétés, tout en préservant une dimension poétique ouverte sur l'imaginaire. Face aux bouleversements qui les entourent, les personnages apparaissent tour à tour comme acteurs, témoins ou observateurs impuissants d'un monde qui leur échappe.
Les métamorphoses visuelles, les rythmes narratifs et la qualité onirique des images ouvrent le récit à une pluralité de lectures, entre inquiétude et émerveillement, contemplation et réflexion. D'un chapitre à l'autre, À L'OMBRE DES NUAGES construit ainsi un récit en mouvement, en constante évolution.
Since 2020, Antoine Roegiers has been developing À L'OMBRE DES NUAGES, a visual narrative unfolding across several chapters and extending the painting series of the same name into moving images. Still in progress, the project evolves over the years, drawing on his pictorial universe and transposing its atmospheres into the field of animation.
The paintings come to life, characters begin to move, and landscapes transform. Movement and temporality allow the narrative to unfold gradually, revealing an unstable and unpredictable world inhabited by masked figures, animals, and half-human, half-animal characters. Through deserted landscapes, fires, and natural phenomena, the different chapters form a journey through a world in perpetual transformation.
Through this universe, Antoine Roegiers creates a sensitive allegory of our time. He explores the transformations, uncertainties, and fragilities that shape our societies, while preserving a poetic dimension open to the imagination. Faced with the upheavals surrounding them, the characters appear in turn as participants, witnesses, or powerless observers of a world slipping beyond their control.
Visual metamorphoses, narrative rhythms, and the dreamlike quality of the images open the story to multiple interpretations, oscillating between unease and wonder, contemplation and reflection. From one chapter to the next, À L'OMBRE DES NUAGES thus develops as a moving narrative in constant evolution.
À l'ombre des nuages, chapitres IV–V
Les humains sont partis. Un étrange aéronef s'écrase et crée un énorme incendie. La nature reprend ses droits dans un monde en feu. Des personnages mi-hommes, mi-animaux observent les bouleversements qui les entourent. Malgré tout, la vie continue. Inconscients et impuissants face à ce monde qui se transforme, les animaux récupèrent les masques abandonnés par les carnavaliers et fuient les flammes.
The humans are gone. A strange aircraft crashes, sparking a massive fire. Nature reclaims its place in a world engulfed in flames. Half-human, half-animal figures watch as the world around them is thrown into upheaval. Despite everything, life goes on. Oblivious and powerless in the face of a changing world, the animals pick up the masks abandoned by the carnival-goers and flee the flames.

Le récit s'ouvre sur deux fêtards errant à travers des paysages désertés et inquiétants. Ils découvrent peu à peu un monde vidé de toute présence humaine, peuplé de squelettes qui recueillent les masques abandonnés après la fête. Tandis qu'un orage menaçant se profile, les deux personnages se dirigent vers un hangar énigmatique où repose un aéronef.
The story opens with two revelers wandering through deserted, unsettling landscapes. Little by little, they discover a world devoid of all human presence, inhabited by skeletons gathering the masks abandoned in the aftermath of the festivities. As a threatening storm looms on the horizon, the two figures make their way toward a mysterious hangar where an aircraft lies waiting.
